David "Kidd" Kenitzer's year is off to a
great start. We have record number of members signed up for this year's
District Assembly at Reno's Hilton on April
8th. Our own PDG Dave Denney will lead a session
called Rotary 101. I will have a session featuring Club Fundraising.
Pete Brost complied a list of all the fundraising efforts
of Rotary clubs in our district. I will be using that as the basis for
the session.
Although both are held in Reno, the District Assembly is different
than the District Conference on May 5-7.
While the District Conference celebrates the past Rotary year's efforts,
the Assembly is a great opportunity for newer members to learn more
about Rotary at the district, zone, national and international levels.
I must have attended at least a dozen assemblies and always come away
with a better understanding of this movement we call Rotary.
As I write this early Wednesday morning, we are nearing the $30,000
level of items for our Radio Auction. A final push
this week should put us in the position to meet our budget goals for
youth activities. The final deadline for turning in items is March
10th ... next Friday!
We also have some important deadlines for the special newspaper tabloid
which will publicize the auction. The advertising deadline is next Monday,
March 6th. Please contact Stacy Drake if you are advertising
in the section. By March 13th we need to have all the stories and photos
that will be featured in the supplement, along with a listing of the
items to be sold. As of this morning, we are still short of photos of
the youth activities that will be featured in the section. Let me know
if you have anything we can use. On March 20th, the Union will print
extra copies of the section for our club. You can take some to your
donors to help publicize the auction.
Reminder to All Board Members: the "Call to Recognition"
forms must be turned in by March 18th. Please bring them to the board
meeting Monday. Contact Kim if you need help!!!! You have all done a
great job this year -- I want your efforts to be recognized at the District
Conference on May 5-7.
I would also remind all members that next week a good friend of mine,
Secretary of State Bruce McPherson, will be speaking
to the club. I am hoping that he will give us a glimpse of what happens
behind the scene in Sacramento. Bruce has served in both the Assembly
and Senate and is one of the few legislators in Sacramento with support
from both sides of the aisle.
This a is a meeting that you won't want to miss!!
