The Kidd's Comments

Mine-Hunting Dolphins. Come on; that has to the best program title this club has ever had. Believe it or not, our own George Rebane will really talk about explosive-finding sea mammals.

Next Monday (September 18), I will be a driver in The Friendship 100. The Friendship 100 is like a miniature version of the Formula 100. But instead of sleek racing machines, we'll be driving go-carts. And like any good race car driver, the drivers have to get sponsors in order to race. Unfortunately, the 49er Fun Park won’t let us decorate their go-carts, so we'll be posting the logos and names of our sponsors on our racing suits instead. Did I mention that all of the proceeds go to The Friendship Club?

I wasn't just challenged once... but twice! First, Charlie Litton (President of the Nevada County South Club) threw down the gauntlet by creating a special race for the presidents of the five Area 4 Rotary clubs. Of course, I felt the need to defend the honor of our club by competing… even though I was put in a disadvantage by having less than 2 weeks to raise at least $1,000!

But then on Monday, I was personally challenged by Bob Breck (President of the Grass Valley Club). In his meeting, he told his club that he’d not only beat me in fundraising… but beat me driving backwards! Needless to say, I need your help...

Although I will take donations of any amount, sponsorships of $100 (or more!) also get a catered dinner on Monday at The Friendship 100! Since higher amounts are definitely appreciated (and are tax-deductible), larger donations will receive bigger ad space. What do you say? Will you donate more if I wear the racing suit during today's meeting?

In Service Above Self...
President David "Kidd" Kenitzer

Club News

Kellermann Foundation Dinner: The Kellermann Foundation Dinner this Sunday (September 17) needs volunteers from the Club to help setup, server dinner, and breakdown. Altogether 25 volunteers are needed from 5pm until cleanup is completed. Between our five area Rotary clubs, we are hoping to provide all 25 volunteers. Special thanks to those who have already volunteered, including: Terry Boyer, Ellen Davis, Gary Gustafson, Kent Kadera, Eleanor Kenitzer, Bonnie Murphey, Nicole Oros, Jim Philips, Ed Townsend (plus Mary Ann), and Eric Trygg. But it's not too late to sign-up, please let President Kidd know if you are willing to help.
New Member Proposed: Mike Colantuono has been proposed as a new member by David Kenitzer. If approved, Mike's classification will be Municpal Law. Please contact Membership Chair Dave Denney or President Kidd with any questions regarding this candidate for membership.
Newsflash from the Pokerettes: Rotarians & Spouses -- Mark your calendars!!! 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 8 at the Odd Fellows Lodge, The Pokerettes are hosting a baby shower for David and Erica. More details will follow. The boy baby Kenitzer is registered at Target, Babies R Us, and will be registered locally at Future Generations. A classic Winnie the Pooh theme has been chosen for the baby’s room. So save the date and wait for additional details. ~ The Pokerettes
Program Change: Mike Stewart apologizes for not being able to present his program ("Life and Times of a Rural Fire Chief") today. But he was called out on the Ralston Fire (which has been burning for about a week near Foresthill and causing all of the smoke). Don't worry -- we'll reschedule his program for an upcoming meeting. Thanks goes to George for stepping in at a moment's notice!
