Well... long time no "Comments"!
After a 4-week hiatus, I finally have the chance to write in
this column again. In my defense, I can only blame the 8-lb
"chubster" pictured to the right for my slacking (and
don't worry -- I won't turn the Rotario into my personal baby
picture album).
To recap this lost time, I'll start with the Area 4
Foundation Dinner. On November 9, ten
of our fellow NC Rotarians (and their family members) were recognized
for obtaining a Paul Harris this year, including
Bob Aydelott (1st), Carolyn Inglis
(1st), Cathy Wilcox-Barnes (1st), Stacie
Hart (2nd), Jo Ann Rebane (2nd), me
(#4), George Rebane (#5), Ralph Sawvell
(#6), and Dave Denney (RI stops reporting
after 10!). At this event, not only did I get to introduce
my newborn to the "joy of Rotary", but I also had
the honor of "presenting" him as one of the youngest
Paul Harris Fellows (I think that fits the 4-Way Test, since
he was only 12 days old!). I would be remiss not
to thank PE Nancy Kemp for helping to present
our club's awards, Foundation Chair Shirl Mendonca
for organizing the awards beforehand, and the 49er Club
for hosting the entire event.
On the next evening (November 10), we held our annual Party
Hearty with Jimmi Accardi. This year, we changed venues
by moving the event to the Miners Foundry.
However, we brought back Jimmi Accardi and the Wildcats
to "rock the house" and presented all of the proceeds
to Sierra Services for the Blind. Thanks to
the Party Hearty Committee for organizing the
event, as well as to all NC Rotarians that volunteered to make
it all happen!
Finally, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving
last week. And now that we're rolling into December, don't forget
about our club's Christmas Party on Saturday
evening! As always, it should be a fun time...
