Although we made an announcement at the November 30th meeting
that we'd be dark last week and also sent a
special email to the members, there's always the 10% who don't
get the word (which is the caption suggested by George
Rebane for the picture to the right). As George
wrote in an email to me:
"The attached
is a photographic record of today’s rather sparsely attended
Rotary meeting. One should note that the dining room had been
set up and decorated for the Christmas season. All the Rotary
accoutrements were in their usual places. The lunch was fresh
and piping hot consisting of breasts of chicken smothered in
a capered sauce accompanied by home fries to die for. Apparently
the word didn’t get out to everyone (including the innkeeper)
about the most recent changes in schedule."
Although I'm not sure what excuses Allan Rogers
and Miriam Keene will come up with, I know
that Tom Coleman had valid excuses for not
knowing: 1) he was not at the November 30th meeting, 2) our
Program Chairs didn't give him a heads up,
and 3) he doesn't have email (although the hotel has a website,
which baffles me). I must apologize profusely to Thomas
A and hope that he will someday accept my sincerest regrets.
Oh, and before I forget... TOM!!!
We will be DARK on December 28th.
Last Friday and Saturday, several NC Rotarians volunteered
to "ring the bell" for the Salvation Army
in front of SPD and Rite Aid. Many thanks to Dave Fluke,
Dixie Redfearn, Gil Gray,
Don Fultz, Gary Gustafson,
Bonnie Murphey, Eleanor Kenitzer,
George Rebane, Ed Townsend,
Stacie Hart, Cathy Wilcox-Barnes,
and Kent Kadera for stepping up to brave the
cold. I also want to thank Phil Ruble for "greasing
the kettle"...
