To make sure 2006 ended right, the Club decided to give me
a nice Christmas present by stealing the bell during the last
meeting of the year (December 21). The nice guy that I am, I
had my back turned for moments while helping the folks from
the Foster Youth Services setup for their presentation
(teaches me to help out).
To make matters worse, the thief has made sure my New Year
started on the right foot (not the left foot) by not
returning during the first meeting of the year (yes, that
is sarcasm that you're detecting). Therefore, I will be
giving some more money to The Rotary Foundation
for the successful theft. But without the bell as a "carrot"
to raise more money for TRF, Double the Fines in the
No Bell Zone will be in effect this week. Hopefully,
this will entice the thief to bring it back soon. Otherwise,
we'll raise lots of fines instead (don't say I didn't warn
ya!).
This week, the Radio Auction Committee will
be kicking off the 2007 Radio Auction. Last
year's auction was a tremendous success with over $24,000
in proceeds. The Committee has been working hard to organize
this year's event -- and now it's your turn to make it a success!
We'll need donations to sell, volunteers to handle the items,
operators to answer the phones, etc, etc, etc. Since this will
be our #1 fundraiser of the 2006-07 Rotary
year, I want 100% Club Participation!
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, March 24 from
9am to 2pm. The location will be changing, but we'll still broadcast
over KNCO 830AM (and also streaming over
the web at www.knco.com).
Only 71 Days to go, so let's start bringing
in the auction items!
