To give us more room for the Club Music Contest,
we will be meeting today at the
Odd Fellows Hall at 212 Spring Street, not
the National Hotel.
Only 16 Days Until The Radio Auction! However,
today is the last day to submit your Radio
Auction items in order to be listed in The Union's special
insert. Forms turned in after this time will still
be accepted, but will only be listed on the website and mentioned
during the Radio Auction.
As of last night, we have collected 163 items
worth about $35,750. Although we have only
reached 72% of this year's $50,000
goal, the Radio Auction Committee and I both knew that
this would be a rigorous goal. In the nine years we've put on
the Radio Auction, we have never raised anywhere close to $50,000.
To put it into perspective, we collected 232 items worth about
$42,700 last year, which was definitely one of our better years.
But I have not thrown in the towel yet!
I know that items faxed over the past fews days have not been
entered into the system yet, while many others will be turned
in at today's meeting (in fact, I for one will be turning
in at least three last-minute items). When the "final"
tally is compiled next week, I know
we will beat last year's net worth. In fact, I am so confident
that I'll bet $100 (to The Rotary Foundation,
of course!) that this year's Radio Auction will raise more
money than any of the previous years.
Anyone care to take my wager?
