First of all, next week's meeting will be MOVED
to Tuesday, April 3 at the Miners Foundry
for the Area Speech Contest. Please come to
this event, so you can cheer on today's club winner that will
advance to the area level.
The Radio Auction is finally behind us (well,
almost!).
Thanks to a few last minute items and cash donations, we actually
achieved our fundraising goal before the auction began!
Believe it or not, we actually auctioned off 255 items
worth more than $50,000. Thanks to everyone
for your hard work getting those in!
All in all, this year's event was the smoothest running
Radio Auction that we've had in years. We had only one "snafu"
with the credit card machine, but we quickly came up with some
last minute contingencies that did the trick. Otherwise, I could
actually see smiles on just about everyone's
face... including the members of the Radio Auction Committee
(which is highly irregular!). In past years, I would
usually only see looks of concern, anxiety, stress, panic, nausea,
etc. (as they would progress through the day). Congratulations
to them for organizing and executing such a fun event!
By Saturday afternoon, we had pledges of more than $21,000
from listeners. Although we have not exceeded last year's totals,
we still have a few more chances. Some items did not receive
any bids on Saturday and are now up to bid within our club.
Please take a moment to look through these items and bid what
you think they are worth. Also, be sure to ask your coworkers,
friends, and family if they have any use for them -- there's
no reason you can't bid on their behalf. Just like on Saturday,
I ask all of you to bid early, bid high, and bid often!
