We now have another baby in the club... along with John
Woodford’s two "baby" Scotty dogs and
Gayle Denney’s "baby" Grand
piano.
Laura Crookston and her husband Max
have welcomed their second child, Cooper, into
the world. Cooper was born on November 20th at 10:27pm weighing
8-lb, 9-oz, 20.5 inches long, and healthy! Laura promises pictures
soon...
Laura is our youngest member who joins an elite group of Rotarians
who are populating the future Rotary clubs of the world - pP
David (of course) and little Aedan,
and pP Kim Stewart who now has two, Colin
and Branden. We’ll look forward to welcoming
Laura back to a meeting; I know that all the club grandparents
have lots of pearls of advice for our new mom.
Our speaker at our last meeting, Ralf Swenson
- Superintendent of the Nevada Joint Union High School District,
was terrific!! October is Rotary’s Vocational
Month, so we asked Ralf to speak about vocational education
in our schools. This could have been a real "snoozer"
of a topic, but Ralf was so animated. He provided compelling
statistics and information about what we are doing in our county
to train the percentage of students who will not go to college,
but will instead train in a skill that is needed in our society.
Today's program is Bill Haire from the Land
Trust speaking on Hirschman’s Pond. Please
plan to attend, and we can catch up on everyone’s Thanksgiving
festivities.
