Remember, this week we have moved the meeting for our Christmas
Party, which will be celebrated at the National
Hotel on Friday, December 14th with
cocktails at 6:00 and dinner at 7:00. We’ll have a lot
of fun and fellowship, so see you there!
Our Salvation Army Bell Ringers were out with
smiles on Friday at SPD and Sunday at Rite Aid. We don’t
know yet if we will retain the Bell Award for the third year
in a row, but hope that those who didn’t ring did add
some funds to the red pots. Jim Phillips, our
esteemed Sergeant at Arms, was hopelessly confused about his
shift. He told his wife, Leslie, that he was
ringing at 4:00 at Rite Aid, but that was Dave Fluke’s
shift. Leslie showed up to help, tried to locate Jim and then
decided to just take Jim’s shift for him. We don’t
know where Jim might have ended up, but thank you Leslie for
jumping in – we suspect it is not the first time you’ve
had to bail out Jim (which is ironic for an assistant DA).
Our Assembly last week featured our Club Board of Directors
each giving a summary of what they’ve been doing this
year. David as always prepared an excellent
presentation which also featured pictures of our various projects.
If you have questions of any director, they will be happy to
give you more detail. And Ellen, our wonderful
treasurer, will share with you the line item budget if you are
interested in what we are doing with the money we raise during
the year.
Our program on December 20th will feature Christmas
Carols by voices you don’t want to miss, so put
this one on your calendar. The Interact Club
(high school students) of Nevada Union will also be at our meeting
to tell us about their ambitious project this year.
And it is still not too late to get your 2007 contributions
in to the Rotary Foundation. You can bring
a check to the Christmas Party for Shirl or Ellen.
