Nancy's Nuggets

Rotarians!

Our Radio Auction is this weekend, and we are meeting today to engage in our usual fun & fellowship and to talk about last-minute planning for our BIG DAY.

This is our biggest club fundraiser, and our donations totals were down a bit this year. So we need to be the proverbial well-oiled machine this weekend to make sure that we can get our net sales up. Remember all the great kids who come to our meeting to accept their scholarships; and remember all the Drew Reynolds recipients who tug at our heart strings when they recount their stories and explain how much a scholarship means to them. Your Auction Team has been working very hard to make sure that all goes smoothly, but we cannot do it without YOU! Please come for the FUN!

Like last year, we are lucky enough to be holding the BIG EVENT at the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools' office: 112 Nevada City Hwy, Nevada City. For those of you who have not been to this location, it's at the corner of Ridge Road and Nevada City Highway across the street from the Imaginarium. But you can click the address above for turn-by-turn directions.

Also, don't forget the Dry Run at 5:00 pm on Friday at Superintendent of Schools' office. We'll not only answer everyone's questions and make sure everything is in "good working order", but we'll also setting up the workspaces. Please come and help!

We are MOVING our meeting next week for the Area 4 Speech Contest to be held at the Miners Foundry on Tuesday, April 1st. We will be passing around a sign-up sheet for that. And on Thursday, April 10th, we are meeting at the Wayne Brown County Jail for lunch and a tour, so you need to sign up for that as well.

So we will see you all today at our meeting!!!

Although the Radio Auction is a lot of work, last year showed us that Rotarians always find a way to have fun...

2008 Radio Auction: This year's Radio Auction is this Saturday (March 29) at the Superintendent of School's office (112 Nevada City Hwy, NC). Be sure to encourage friends/family to listen to KNCO AM830 or www.knco.com (if out of the area) from 9am to 2pm and call (530) 478-6090 to bid on any of the 200+ items. And remind them to bid early and bid high!
2008 District Assembly: The District Assembly is a workshop to help clubs run better! The Assembly is scheduled for April 4-5 at Harrah's in Reno. New members, board members, future leaders, and anyone else interested in Rotary's "behind the scenes" are encouraged to attend. For more info, see www.rotarydistrictconference.org.
2008 District Conference: The District Conference is the culmination of what the 53 Rotary clubs in our district accomplish. And this Rotary year, we will all come together on May 1-4, 2008 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino in Reno to discuss, celebrate, and plan for the future! Registration and details about the Conference are already available at www.rotarydistrictconference.org.
Party Hearty: This year's Party Hearty with Jimmi Accardi will be on Friday, May 16 at the Miners Foundry, which will benefit Women of Worth! More details coming...
99th Annual Rotary International Convention: As RI President Wilf Wilkinson says, "a Rotary convention is an event like no other", and this year's RI Convention is only going to be 450 miles away at the Los Angeles Convention Center. June 15-18, 2008 is just around the corner, so please take a look at the Convention Brochure available on the RI Website: http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/c08_brochure.pdf.
