Rotarians and all –
GREAT JOB ON THE AUCTION!!!
We had a productive and exciting day on March 29th, our Auction
Day Of – All computer systems functioned beautifully (Grass
Valley Rotary was successfully blocked from any virus planting);
all auction teams functioned smoothly (no shouting matches broke
out) and we raised over $20,000 in this tough
economic climate. Thank you for your donation gathering and
for all your work on the Big Day. Special thanks to our Auction
Team – Carolyn Inglis, Jeff Wenzel, Gary
Gustafson, David Kenitzer, Robin Milam , Mike Colantuono, Ed
Townsend, Luke Cummings and Julie Miller. We couldn't
have done it without them!!
We are meeting as usual at the National this Thursday. Bob
Aydelott is hosting a discussion on The Real Estate
Market, which should prove to be very interesting given the
tough times in the market today.
Our meeting the week of April 21st will be on that Monday,
April 21st. We will be MOVING our meeting to the Nevada
City Elks Lodge for the Group Study Exchange
(GSE) Luncheon with the 4 other Rotary Clubs in our
area. This is a very informative and interesting event. This
year's GSE team members who are from Brazil
will be sharing information about themselves and their country.
The meeting will start at 12:00; the lunch
is $18. We'll be asking for signups on
Thursday. If you've never been to one of these, don't
miss this great opportunity to enhance your world knowledge.
We still need more books for Governor Vic's
drive for 5190 books for the RI Conference
in LA. I now have learned that the desire is for books in the
K-3 grade range. We've got 58 books now and
need 100. If you have not already contributed, we'd appreciate
a book or two.

2008 District Conference:
The District Conference is the culmination of what the 53 Rotary
clubs in our district accomplish. And this Rotary year, we will
all come together on May 1-4 at the Peppermill
Resort Spa Casino in Reno to discuss, celebrate, and
plan for the future! Registration and details about the Conference
are available at www.rotarydistrictconference.org.
Party Hearty: This year's Party Hearty
with Jimmi Accardi will be on Friday, May 16
at the Miners Foundry, which will benefit Women
of Worth! More details coming...
99th Annual Rotary International Convention: As RI President
Wilf Wilkinson says, "a Rotary convention is an event like
no other", and this year's RI Convention
is only going to be 450 miles away at the Los Angeles
Convention Center. June 15-18 is right
around the corner, so please take a look at the Convention Brochure
available on the RI Website: http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/c08_brochure.pdf.
