We are NOT meeting this Thursday at the National! We
are instead taking the bus at 4:00 from the Plaza Parking Lot
in Nevada City (corner of Sacramento and Nevada Street) to Sacramento
for a River Cats Game on Friday
evening. So enjoy the fellowship on Friday!
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp has
an urgent need for one more counselor for the program. Our club
is sponsoring two exceptional candidates, who will be attending
camp starting June 15 through June
20th. The camp is located at the Grizzly Creek Ranch
near Portola (130 miles east of Sacramento, 40 miles west of
Reno). If you are interested in helping with this urgent need
or know someone who could help, here is pertinent information:
counselor must be a female at least 25 years old,
counselor training starts Saturday, June 14th at 8:30
AM, and there will be accommodations at the camp starting
Friday evening. This is a volunteer position but all meals and
sleeping facilities in modern cabins are provided. No special
training or physical conditioning is required. More information
about the camp is available at www.Camp-RYLA.org.
Please call Mike Johnson, the Camp-RYLA Co-Director at 1-800-288-7989
x43 (day) or 530-273-5967 (eve).
Our Vocational Chair / President Elect
Bob Buhlis reminds us all to get our nominations
in for our club’s Vocational Service Award.
The award is given to the NC Rotary Club member who best exemplifies
his or her professional classification for the year. The 2006
award was presented to George Rebane. Contact
PE Bob for more details or for the nomination form (320-9257
or BobBuhlis[at]NCRotary.org).
As you know June is Fellowship Month, and if
you want to see some very interesting fellowship in action,
check out the Rotary International site www.rotary.org.
There is a great picture of two gentlemen exchanging club flags
underwater in full scuba gear!
Enjoy the game and see you at the National on June 19th! And
will whoever took the Bell please return it to the closet; I’ve
never known of such an underhanded filtch.

Uganda Champagne Brunch:
The Rotaract Club's Champagne Brunch
last Sunday was a big success.
Early reports say that approximately $3,000 was
raised for Rotaractor / Hydrologist Sol Henson
to travel to Uganda this summer to begin water
and sanitation projects. Thanks to those who supported the event!
Demotion Party: Mark the date! President Nancy's Demotion
Party will be in the evening on Friday, June
27th. More details coming soon!
