Last week’s meeting started out with too many bells ringing
– cow bells left over from pP Nancy’s Demotion
Party! Let’s hope those bells have now been assigned
to the cows at a dairy in another county!
The installation of officers and directors by DG Wyn
begins a new year for the Nevada City Rotary Club, and what
a great job she did. Thanks to everyone who served this past
year and thanks, too, to everyone on the new board! pDG
Dave Denney also lent a hand with a well done induction
of our first two new member of the year: Bob Skipper
(Communications-Retired) and Austin Farrar
(Catering). Welcome to Rotary!
The first cell phone fines were imposed on
none other than me! Imagine my surprise (well, many of you saw
the look on my face) when the phone in my pocket rang shortly
after I announced that fines would be $5 for
a phone ringing during the meeting, with the fines doubled
if it rang during the program. I thought I had set it for vibrate;
I may leave the phone at home during future meetings.
On fines, just a reminder that I’ll pay $25 for
legal bell steals (the sooner the bell is returned,
the sooner it can be stolen again). A member caught stealing
the bell or known to have stolen the bell pays the $25
fine. By the way, I’ll be watching for members
wearing their pins when we meet – fines for not wearing
your pin in public will be made at the next meeting.
Interested in a trip to Hong Kong to deliver
wheel chairs or being a Rotarian Team Leader for GSE
to Italy next spring? Ask me for details.
A couple of suggestions have been made to replace the blank
in “Bob’s _____?”. Let either David or me
know if you have a suggestion and win a prize! Contest ends
this week.
This week’s program is one to look forward to: our good
friend and fellow Rotarian Dr. Scott Kellermann
will present an update on his work in Uganda. No one should
miss this meeting - see you Thursday!
