Well as you can see, George Rebane’s
suggestion of "Bob’s Buhletin"
is the overwhelming winner with 24 out of 31 votes! Second place
was "Bob’s Buzz" with three votes. So, George,
lunch is on me at the next regular meeting!
It was good to get an update on Foothill Theatre Company
presented by Carolyn Howarth and Scott
Gilbert and to hear about Scott’s history with
Rotary. Thanks, Stacy. The remainder of the 2008 season sounds
like fun; let us know when the 2009 schedule is announced (maybe
we could have a theatre night?).
Whoops, I left Scott Scirpo off of the "thank
you" list for helping with the Childrens Festival.
Cathy Wilcox-Barnes reported that he has helped
two years in a row with "moving big, HEAVY tables".
Thanks, Scott; please save the date for next year, too.
This week, our meeting is MOVED to the Fairgrounds
for our annual pre-fair family pep rally and picnic. Bring a
salad or dessert and don’t forget to come in costume and
decorate your tables (theme is "Barnyard Buckaroos").
Booth Chairman Joe Tomkiewicz is out of town
this week, so Ben Barretta will give us the
run-down on the booth and how it operates, plus any changes
that may take place this year.
The price of admission (that’s a first!) is items to
help with the Tools for School project, where
we help fill 250 backpacks with supplies sponsored by the Salvation
Army. See the e-mail sent out earlier this week for
a list of the supplies that are needed. If you don’t have
a chance to go shopping, a small donation is requested.
Joe reports that our members have stepped up to the plate and
the schedule is just about filled with volunteers to "man"
the booth. We’re looking for 100% participation, so if
you haven’t signed up, give Joe’s office a call
and leave a message.
We have been invited to hold our board meetings at the Nevada
City Winery tasting room, and we’re going to
give that a try for our board meeting on Monday, August
4 beginning at 5:30. Board meetings are always open
to the membership; new members are especially encouraged to
attend at least one meeting as part of their indoctrination
into Rotary.
And don’t forget: whatever you do in Rotary,
have fun!
