Forgive me, Paul Harris, for I have sinned.
The paparazzi caught me last Wednesday night at the Fair eating
the product from another booth! Actually, I was being a good
Rotarian by supporting the Rough and Ready Firefighters
by buying one of their baked potatoes during this terrible fire
season. Besides, somebody had to check out the competition,
and it wasn’t even a pulled pork or beef sandwich!
Nevada City Rotary has made it through another successful Fair
season, thanks to the leadership of Joe Tomkiewicz,
his hard working day coordinators, and our members and their
families and friends. The reports aren’t in yet, but we
know the profits will be a major portion of our fundraising
dollars for the year. A great big thank you for everyone who
helped!
Do you make it a point to wear your Rotary pin
every day and everywhere you go? DG Wyn Spiller
and the other governors of Zones 23 and 24 are emphasizing pride
in wearing our pin and have chosen the pride of a lion to make
their point. At pre-PETS DG Wyn presented each of us with a
lion pin, and I have obtained 35 more to give to the first 35
NC Rotarians who show me they are wearing their pins other than
on a meeting or event day. In addition, count on a $2
fine if I catch you in public without your pin on!
Wearing your pin with pride is one of the best ways each of
us can inspire discussion about Rotary, our good works and attract
new members. So, show me your pin!
IPP Nancy Kemp once again demonstrated her
leadership skills with her presentation at the Foundation
Seminar last Saturday in Reno as chair of the District
5190 World Peace Fellowship. In addition to
Nancy, Stacie Hart and Austin Farrar
joined me for the very informative seminar followed by a BBQ,
where Austin was recruited to help flip burgers.
This week, the program for our meeting will be presented by
Nevada City Manager Gene Albaugh – his
presentation will be "A Rotarian’s View from City
Hall". It is also party day for August birthdays.
Some collector coffee mugs from the 2006 radio auction will
be available for $3 along with a small supply of shirts for
$10.
Are we having fun yet? I am!
