Wearing our Rotary pins with pride is a current
emphasis in our club and so far pP Ellen Davis
and Austin Farrar have been awarded Lion
Pride pins for being seen in public by the Buhletin
columnist. Secret spies have been assigned to help watch for
members who will report back at the August 28th meeting. Wear
your pin on days other than a meeting day and be seen by a secret
spy or me and you will be awarded a Lion Pride pin!
Rotary Academy is beneficial training for
all members, especially board members, potential leadership
and new members. Cost is $50 which will be either partially
or fully reimbursed upon completion of the online program .
Check the district website (www.rotarydistrict5190.org)
or give me a call for details.
I am pleased to announce that District 5190 is in the running
to host the 2015 International Conference to
be held in Reno/Sparks/Tahoe. Anyone interested in working on
the preliminary planning committee is invited to contact Paul
Kiser pakiser[at]sbcglobal.net.
Congratulations to Ray Klinginsmith of the
Rotary Club of Kirksville, Missouri, who has been selected to
serve as RI President for the 2010-11 year! According to PDG
Dave Denney, he’s a good choice. Details about
Ray is available on the RI website as well as next month’s
Rotary World.
Save the date – the Foundation Dinner
is slated for Thursday, November 6 at Miners
Foundry. This year’s event is hosted by Nevada
City and is being chaired by IPP Nancy Kemp,
who also serves as our club foundation chair. DG Wyn
is scheduled to attend. The principal speaker will be announced
soon.
This week, the program is craft talks by some new members being
organized by PE Michael Colantuano. These talks
are always interesting and one of the best ways to learn more
about fellow Rotarians. A few more men’s size medium polo
shirts are available at $10 each. A new supply will
be ordered soon to include both women’s and men’s
shirts.
I’m looking forward to passing out some more pride pins
this week, so will look forward to seeing you Thursday!
