Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Join us this Week on Zoom: Thursday August 20 at 5:30pm Club Zoom
3:30pm Executive Board / 4:15pm Full Board
August 20 - D5190 DG Roberta Pickett Visit via Zoom
An unforgettable 2020 ...
Please forgive our tardiness in getting our weekly newsletter to you - the Jones Fire has taken precedence for our attention.
As our community as a whole deals with this latest natural disaster, please keep in mind our fellow club members who have been directly impacted by the fire:
- Chris and Bill Newsom - mandatory evacuation
- John and Susie Monary-Wilson - voluntary evacuation (which turned to mandatory today)
- Lynda Guthrie and her Wolf Creek Lodge buddies - voluntary evacuation
- Nathan, Ken and others of you who are waiting anxiously under advisory evacuations
We trust all of our fellow club members are safe, and as of Tuesday evening the fire has not come near your homes. Please keep us posted on your whereabouts.
We continue to monitor the situation very closely. I expect we are all prepared to throw a few last-minute things in our cars and evacuate should the fire come closer to us.
I am in communication with our District Governor Berta Pickett concerning her club visit on Thursday evening at 5:30pm via Zoom. Executive Board Members will start with a Zoom Meeting at 3:30pm and the remainder of the Board join in at 4:15pm. At this time we are planning to go forward with the meeting as scheduled.
I have let Berta know that if the fire situation gets more threatening, we will likely ask to postpone her visit. My intent is to make that decision later in the day tomorrow (Wednesday the 19) when we should have a better idea of the status of the fire and evacuations. We are hoping for a calm, quiet night tonight and tomorrow so fire crews can halt the advance of the fire.
For now, be safe, get your Go Bags packed if you haven’t already done so, and keep a close eye on the situation.

August is Membership Month.
PDG Doug McDonald and the District Membership team are hosting a Membership Seminar on August 26 at 5pm. Click to register at District5190.org.
You'll meet the District Membership Team, and New Member Attraction Chair Richard Forster, Member Retention Chair Pete Hochrein, and New Club Extension Chair Dave Bianchi will each share information about the resources available to clubs to attract and retain Rotarians. You can get questions answered and establish on-going contact with knowledgeable district leaders who are available to help your club grow and serve!
We hope you can join us. You might take a look at and become familiar with the resources available at https://district5190.org/page/membership, as we will be referring to them during the webinar.
The LLA sessions are recorded and can be viewed later if you are not able to participate in the live events. This is just a sampling of what is available to all of us. With Leadership Learning Assembly, the District is highlighting and expanding key resources. Learn more at Leadership Learning Assembly.
