This Week: Amelia Barrett Craft Talk

The relationships we share and getting to know each other better is what makes Rotary so special. One of our newer members, Amelia Barrett will share her personal life stories as a professional business woman and owner of Barrett Property Management, a member of our community and "Mom" to two young boys who have also been known to lend a helping hand at the Fair and with Club Projects.

This week's Social Mixer will be our last Club meeting of the calendar year.  Join us for a festive evening celebrating each other and spotlighting Amelia.

We will share a jolly good evening together this week and then be dark next week between Christmas and the New Year.

Last Week: Seven Hills shared NatureBridge Science Camp

Students from Seven Hills Middle School and teachers Jeff Boswell  and Hillary O’Callaghan (and 7Hills Graduate who went to NatureBridge!) shared their first hand experiences of NatureBridge Science Camp. The students told about their days and nights during their Marin Headlands NatureBridge experience.

Nevada CIty Rotary is proud to be sponsoring students in their annual Seven Hills NatureBridge Science Camp in January.  To learn more about this intensive, residential science camp, view a video of the Marin Headlands

And whether you are interested in donating or not, our Giving Trail Campaign shares more details about the Seven Hills NatureBridge experience and includes photos from prior years. Enjoy and share with friends one more way our Club is supporting our local youth.

Bellringing for Salvation Army ~ A Rotary Tradition

Last Saturday December 15 outside Nevada City SPD Market, members of both Nevada City Rotary and 49er Breakfast Rotary continued the long Rotary tradition of bellringing for the Salvation Army during this season of giving.  It was fun ringing cheer together with fellow Rotarians and passing out candy canes.  Thanks to Carolyn Inglis for plying us with cookies too!  All these faces are Rotarians or a spouse.  You will find Wally Krill's son Roger in among the 49er Rotarians who rang with us.

Los Barriles, Baja Here We Come!

Nevada City Rotary is unfolding plans for our fourth trip to Los Barriles.  Again we will partner with our Los Barriles Twin Club on a very special project. Last year the team did diabetes and blood screening for students at East Cape Medical Clinic and a local school. Everyone was very moved by the experience with the children.

Project focus: This year's team is going to East Cape Community Vision Center in Los Barriles to assist in conducting secondary (follow-up) vision screening for children and adults. This will enable East Cape Community Vision Center's medical staff to prescribe and fabricate eye glasses with corrective lenses.

For fun: Work includes play too! Chris and Christine Geyer will again host a dinner for all participants; on Sunday go to the beach/swim, outings in off-road vehicles/ATV’s, local tourism, shopping, and getting to know your counterparts in the Los Barriles club

Dates: March 21 travel day, March 22-23 work days at the Vision Center, March 24 R & R day with explorations, shopping, the beach, etc.  Return home March 25 or 26 (return in time to participate in the Area music contest March 27).

Meeting:  We will get together to discuss travel logistics in January.

Girls Who Code at Seven Hills

Girls Who Code program continues into the new year. The girls love our healthy snacks.  Please signup with Nancy Kemp to serve as host and/or bring healthy snacks a week or more for Girls Who Code participants. If you haven’t done it before, Nancy has great instructions on what to serve.  It is another incredible opportunity to become involved and participate with the youth in our community.
