Rotario - December 29, 2016

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Welcome to our latest Rotario newsletter. Once again it is a pleasure keeping you informed of our club activities in the coming weeks.

We are Dark for this week- December 29

Have a safe and Happy New Year.  We look forward to seeing you at our Mixer on Jan. 5.

Last Week- Some Christmas Musings From President Elect Cathy Wilcox Barnes

Due to the late cancellation by the scheduled speaker for this meeting, we had to improvise a presentation for the group. Cathy Wilcox Barnes rose to the occasion, taking the time to describe some old time Christmases in Nevada City, as well as some more recent holiday festivities in town. We learned a lot about the origins of Cornish Christmas and Victorian Christmas events. Cathy also took time to describe how her presidency will be interactive and involve participation by the attendees of our meetings. Cathy gave us a sample of this practice by having each attendee answer a trivia question from a bowl full of questions that was distributed among the group. It turned out to be a very fun and informative exercise.

Additionally, president Walt passed out gratuities to the four members of Tom Coleman's hotel support staff. These are the folks who prepare the dining room, cook our meals, and cleanup after each of our meetings. It was a small way of demonstrating how much we appreciate their efforts week in and week out.

Booth winterization - update

Due to activities in the Fairgrounds and poor weather conditions, our team's second visit to the fair booth was postponed. We will reschedule the activities as soon as possible, as resources and fairground access permit.

Baja - Los Barriles Update will  occur at our Jan. 5 Mixer

.

Carolyn Feuille and John Hensley will be providing details for our March effort.
