Rotario - February 27, 2020

 Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Thursday February 27, 2020
12:15pm Lunch -
Club Speech Contest

The Station at Northern Queen Hotel
400 Railroad Avenue, Nevada City
Directions

It’s that time of the year again. We have the local club Speech Contest coming up at our Thursday meeting. To quote Jerry Seinfeld, “Surveys show that the #1 fear of Americans is public speaking. #2 is death. That means that at a funeral, the average American would rather be in the casket than doing the eulogy.”  That may be true of us adults but every year I am amazed at the poise and confidence that our speech contestants show. I’m sure this year will be no different. John Wilson has been hard at work rounding up contestants. Let’s all make an extra effort to attend Thursday’s meeting to support our contestants and our Youth Services director. I think I can promise you won’t be disappointed in the youth of today who will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Are you Hungry for some excitement and a great night out? Well, coming up on the heels of the Speech Contest is Hungry Games; a fun, festive, tasty evening. Watch our dueling chefs, sample tasty treats and then dance off all the calories to the great music of Sgt. Funky. Robin has tickets (both raffle and admission) to distribute for club members to sell. If you haven’t already picked some up from her, plan to do so Thursday. Michael has plenty of opportunities for you to work before, at or after the event. We’re getting down to the final countdown – only about 2-1/2 weeks until you can satisfy that Hungry Games hunger.

Can anyone identify this picture?  Over the next two months I will be putting pictures in the Rotario of places, objects or whatever in and around Nevada City for you to try to identify. Try to answer as many as possible BUT keep it to yourself! On May 7th you will find out the answers – person with the most correct just might win something!

Hungry Games Planning for 2020 - TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE

We are planning an even bigger and better Hungry Games for 2020. Robin is managing tickets.  If you have not gotten yours or need more event or raffle tickets for you to sell see Robin or reply to this newsletter.  We are asking each Club member to sell at least 3 raffle tickets plus as many event tickets as possible.
