Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Welcome to our latest Rotario newsletter. Once again it is a pleasure keeping you informed of our club activities in the coming weeks.
This Week - Haven Bundy and Ayurvedic Medicine
Haven Bundy began her journey into the healing arts in 1999, using Herbs, Yoga, Meditation, Diet & Lifestyle to heal from her own personal health challenges. Over the next couple decades she completed many formal education programs including Clinical Herbology, Ayurvedic College, Yoga Teacher Training, Whole Foods Cooking, and 1100 hours in Therapeutic Massage School. She also travelled the world with internationally acclaimed circuses as a Swinging Trapeze Artist, which allowed her the richness of life in many ways. She incorporates all her knowledge and experience into her own style of Ayurvedic Treatment, offering a wonderful environment for individuals to create change in any area of their lives and a foundation of health that lasts a lifetime.

Also Last Week - Yard Sale Saturday, June 17 !!
The BIG Rotary Yard Sale was this lots of work and lots of fun this past Saturday. Selling almost everything but the kitchen sink (though we did have a disposal for sale!) we brought in over $2,400. Sorry if we did not capture you in a photo ~ more Rotarians showed up to work and BUY than are shown here. The princess showed up for her castle as soon as the guys got it assembled Saturday afternoon. Go to Facebook to see Gayle Denney demonstrate her twirling skills!
Booth Water Damage - update
Both the interior and exterior roof repairs are complete! We will have a "drywall painting party" on Wed morning June 21 at the booth. Contact Walt if you can participate. We will also have a General Booth Cleanup on Saturday July 29 starting at 9am. Repairs should be complete at that point so the work will be lots of cleaning in side and out.
On Friday, July 21st, 2017, The Children's Festival will return to Pioneer Park in Nevada City. For one special day each year, Pioneer Park in Nevada City park is transformed into a magical wonderland with over twenty arts and crafts tables, strolling minstrels, jugglers, face-painters, a bridge-guarding troll, a bevy of faeries, Pepper the Witch, medieval fencing, spinning demonstrations, Queen Elizabeth and her court, Pyrate Skool, and Claude, the life-sized mechanical dragon.
There will be two sessions: from 9am - noon and from 5pm - 8pm. Admission to each session is $3. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
A big Thank You to Nancy Kemp, Gayle Denney and Sandy Stickel for your year round preparation. Volunteers are needed to support the Solar Art for the morning session and possibly other activities. It is lots of fun! Please contact Nancy, Gayle or Sandy if you are available. Click to see last year's Festival

Nevada City Rotary grants scholarships – The Class of 2017 celebrated commencement ceremonies around Nevada County this month. Nevada City Rotary is proud to extend scholarships to graduating Seniors at Nevada Union and Silver Springs Continuation High School. Nicole Dillard presented at $1,500 renewable scholarship to NU graduate Jeremiah Jones and Robin Milam presented a $500 technical scholarship to Silver Springs graduate Hailee Patterson.
Silver Springs Continuing High School creates a safe, empowering environment for students who are facing challenging life experiences and/or who have not excelled in a traditional high school environment. Several student speakers spoke of the difference that the the special field trips they take to offer unique life learning experiences such as snowboarding at Squaw Valley and sailing - including rigging the sails - in San Francisco Bay. The school offers an onsite nursery for the infant children of the students.
County Fair Update – Our planning has started for this year's Nevada County Fair which will be held August 9 through August 13. So naturally we continue to circulate the sign-up sheet for staffing all of the work shifts. We're hoping that each active member will help "Share the Load" and not only be able to staff at least two shifts per member, but also recruit friends and relatives for additional shifts. We now have 76 of the 100 slots filled, AND still need evening shift captains for most days. And we have a HUGE HOLE ON FRIDAY -- HELP!!! See the last schedule at 2017 Fair Schedule. You can access, but not update the shift schedule at the Club web site. Please Email updates to Pres. Walt or Sect. Robin.
June 28 - Walt's Demotion Party – Judy Soldavini and hubby George Roberts are once again hosting this year's Demotion Party at their beautiful Bridge House on Wednesday June 28. Celebration begins at 5:30pm with dinner and program at 6:30pm. The cost will be $35/person. Please note, we will also need a setup crew for tables and chairs late morning around 10:30am. Please sign up with Dave Bunje if you have not already done so! It will be another fun event celebrating our year and President Walt.
Temporary Leadership opportunities in the Near Future
Some of our key Board members will be traveling during the summer and the Club needs members to assist in filling some leadership gaps during those periods. Pres. Walt will be traveling this Summer, and Pres. Elect Cathy will be out of the area for 2 months this Summer. Both are arranging for coverage of weekly meetings, managing the fair booth schedule, and work parties during their absence. So far, Tom Ryan has offered to fill in for President Cathy for a month. Robin will coordinate publication of the Rotario and the Fair work party on July 29. Robin has submitted an authorization to the Fair for our annual pre-fair picnic targeted for August 3. Also, Carolyn Feuille, our International Chair will be also traveling much of this Summer.
