Rotario --June 8, 2016

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

JUNE 9: AUGMENTED REALITY & VIRTUAL REALITY EXPLAINED, by Shavati Karki-Pearl, below, Director of Stretegic Alliances and Community Partnerships for the Nevada County Economic Resource Council. AR and VR are seen as the fastest growing opportunity in technology with applications in fields such as medicine and real estate, gaming and outdoor adventure. The Economic Resource Council's new Green Screen Institute, starting this summer, will again put Nevada City in the forefront of digital media innovation.

JUNE 11: ALL-MEMBER PLANNING RETREAT REGARDING FUTURE OF THE CLUB, 10am to 4pm at the Superintendent of Schools Office, at the corner of Ridge and NC Highway.

JUNE 16: THE STATE OF THE NEVADA COUNTY COURT SYSTEM, with Judge Tom Anderson.

JUNE 23: SUPERVISOR NATE BEESON, who is completing his service on the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, will reflect on the Ins and Outs, Highs and Lows, Ups and Downs of serving as a county supervisor. During 30 years as a naval officer, Beeson captained three ships, and led Operation Restore Hope in Somalia in 1993. Captain Beeson has serrved as a Nevada County supervisor for 12 years, collecting many perspectives on the Ins and Outs, as well as the Lows and Highs of county government.

LAST WEEK

PEGGY WRIGHT OF TREATS ICE CREAM STORE talked about the inspiration for their ice cream parlor, how they make it, and the motivations that lead to new flavors. Her husband, Bob, went to "Ice Cream University" at Penn State to learn the craft along with chefs from Ben & Jerry's and from Haagen Daas. They bought a special machine, designed their garage to pass health inspection, and homemake their unique flavors. The samples were delicious! They are now contemplating how to choose a flavor comemorating Alexander Rossi's win at the Indy 500!
