Annual Adaptive Education & 7 Hills Leadership Field Day
Our Annual Adaptive Education and Seven Hills Leadership Class outing is the morning of Wednesday May 29 from 9am - 12 noon. We will be on the fields at Seven Hills Middle School. As we have done for many years, we will again be providing lunch - building sandwiches on site. A favorite for the students are all the homemade cookies we bring. A big thank you to John Wilson, our fabulous Youth Services Chair, for coordinating plans with the school staff. John is circulating a signup sheet for volunteers, cookies, tables, bowls, cookie sheets, and more. Please contact John to participate and determine what is still needed!
Girls Who Code at Seven Hills
Girls Who Code program for this year is coming to a close. Just a few more weeks until that celebrate their year end. A BIG THANK YOU to NANCY KEMP, Ms Girls Who Code Extraordinaire! She has hoslted almost every week, coordinated the program and provided snacks when a volunteer did not step up to do so. Thank you also to all who have provided snacks throughout the year. This is a very special program addressing a very important need for our young girls.
Children's Festival - July 19
This year's Children’s Festival, which is scheduled for Friday, July 19, at Pioneer Park in Nevada City. Nevada City Rotary has been involved with planning and hosting crafts -- especially Nancy Kemp, Gayle Denney and Sandy Stickel for many years. The planning team is now in the process of organizing all the volunteers it takes to make the festival a reality!
The Festival has two sessions. The morning session runs from 9 a.m. to noon. We then take a break (during the heat of the day) and come back for an evening session from 5-8 p.m. We will have about 25 crafts tables at each session, and each table needs 3-5 volunteers to help the kids create their works of art. We also have a number of activities that are especially well suited for teens who want to volunteer (and we provide documentation of community service).
Please let us know if you’ll be available for the morning and/or the evening session. If there's a particular craft you'd like to do, or if there’s someone you’d like to work with, we’d be happy to arrange that. We’d appreciate hearing from you by Friday, May 31, so we will have time to recruit volunteers to fill the gaps.
If you have any questions, please drop us an email at childfesthelpers@gmail.com or give one of us a call at the numbers shown below. And please pass along our contact information to anyone you know who might be willing to participate!
