Rotario - November 30 Foundation Dinner

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

So, we've gone over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Foundation Dinner - November 30
Foothills Event Center, 5:30 Cocktails, 7pm Dinner
Keynote Speaker:  Brenda Cressey, Rotary Foundation Trustee
Tickets are $50/person

Now it is time to go over the hill and down the freeway (or up depending on where you live) to the Events Center for the Foundation Dinner this Thursday. They probably won't be serving turkey but it is sure to be delicious whatever it is. This is a fun, inspiring evening. I hope our Club has a good turnout to hear about what the Rotary Foundation is doing and the part we play as individuals and a club.

Remember the lunch meeting of November 23rd was MOVED to the Foundation Dinner so don't show up at the National Hotel at noon unless you just want to stop in for lunch!

Next Week - Carla Burke's Craft Talk

At our next mixer on December 7th you can look forward to our newest member Carla Burke's Craft Talk. Having known Carla for 40+ years, I can assure you it will be interesting and fun. Since you all know Carla jumped into the Fair Booth financial reporting with both feet (plus she also did shifts in the booth) it will come as no surprise that she has also offered John and her house for our Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 12th. Invitations have gone out and the information for making your reservation (if you haven't already) is included. If you're afraid it will sell out before you get your reservation in, call Judy Soldavini (305-6990) or email and let her know you'll be there. The Club Holiday Social is always a great way to start the holiday season.

Support Nevada County Residents Rebuild after Fires - FINAL DAYS!

Why are we asking for your support?  To support local Nevada County families who lost homes and belongings rebuild. In this time of Thanksgiving ... so far we have raised over $2,500 via Giving Trail toward our $5,000 goal for local families heavily impacted by the fires last month. Want to donate?  Click:  Support Nevada County Residents Rebuild Giving Trail campaign
Deadline: November 30

Not included in the amount raised are: The Rotary Club of Penn Valley is complementing this campaign by donating $1,000 in Holiday Market "wow" points which were presented to the Community Disaster Response Fund in the form of ten $100 voucher cards. Nevada City 49er Breakfast Rotary has contributed a cash collection of $664. The Rotary Club of Grass Valley has contributed $1,370 to the fund's Tri Counties Bank account.

Speaking of busy schedules... Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?

Maybe a drink at the National Hotel bar? Whatever you choose - drinks are on me. But the offer has a string attached - feedback! I had a lot of time to think while I walked this summer and I thought about our club and each member in it. Email me with dates/days/times you are available. If I don't hear from you first, I'll be getting in touch with members in the coming weeks to set up a time when we can chat and you can let me know what's on your mind when it comes to our Club and how you would like to Make a Difference.

Treats for Girls Who Code

Treat yourself by treating the girls to refreshments one or more times throughout the school year ~ a fabulous way for you to be personally involved supporting the program. Dave Bunje has a signup sheet with open Rotary Host and refreshment slots for the girls each week for next school semester. The girls certainly appreciate the snacks ~ it is good to offer something sweet, something salty, including something filling.  Old reliables include chips, granola bars, juice drinks, cupcakes, pretzels, brownies, bagels, etc. If you have not signed up for a slot, please contact Dave.  Let's get the commitments in place before Dave leaves us!  Many thanks to those who volunteer to bring snacks!

Please note: NEW PLACE AND TIME: The club now meets in the library at Seven Hills Middle School, starting at 3:30 pm on Tuesdays. When bringing snacks, please arrive by 4:15 for 4:30 serving. Snacks are served in the covered patio just outside the library, while the weather stays fair, and in the Teacher’s Lounge when the weather turns foul. Seven Hills Middle School is at 700 Hoover Lane, opposite SPD Market off the far end of Brock Rd. From the main parking lot, go through the open hallway past the central office. The library and patio are just outside the hallway.
