In these times ...

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Unfortunately, due to the current, ever-evolving health crisis our Sunday, March 15th Hungry Games event will not take place this weekend. Following directions from the Nevada County Health department we have postponed it until Sunday, July 19, 2020, same time, same place (Miners' Foundry, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

Thank you all for working so hard to set the stage for an even more successful event this year. If you have sold tickets (either raffle or admission) please reach out to the people that you sold them to and reassure them that the tickets will be honored at the July event. Nothing has changed. There will still be only 100 raffle tickets sold and their ticket will be in the hopper. The general admission tickets they hold, even with a March 15th date, will get them in the door.

The live and silent auction will still take place. The Sgt Funky music, fun and fabulous food will still take place - just a few months later!

If ticket holders can't make the July date, please reassure them the raffle ticket does not require you to be present to win. This is a major fundraiser to support our local Youth and Community Service projects. If they have general admission tickets and can't make the date, ask them if they want to "donate" the money to Rotary. We are hoping ticket holders will want to contribute in this way but we won't refuse refunds.  If they prefer a refund, either for the raffle or the admission, we will provide it. Just put your best Rotary foot forward and explain that we are sorry we had to postpone but we are acting in a responsible manner and want to do what is best for our community (and them) at this time.

Support our Community Partners

We encourage our community to patronize and support all our generous supporters and partners through this challenging period.

We appreciate the generous support our community extends to Rotary and specifically to Nevada City Rotary. We recognize that postponing has a direct impact on our chefs at The Ham Stand, on Miners Foundry Cultural Center and on our partners. Our participating partners include Nevada City Winery and Szabo Winery, Dr Sarah's Pies, Crumbunny Coffee Roaster, Cheri's Hand Dipped Ice Cream, The Truffle Shop and Sheila Keene-Larsen Tupperware.

RALLYE - Rotary Awards Learning and Leadership Yearly Event CANCELED

After much deliberation, District 5190 made the tough decision to cancel RALLYE originally scheduled for April 24-26.  Watch this space for new remote learning opportunities.

Rotary/Music in Mountains Young Musicians Competition CANCELED

Music in the Mountains and Western Nevada County Rotary clubs have reached a very difficult decision regarding the upcoming Young Musician’s Competition. Both organizations are committed to bringing the competition back next spring 2021. Students will be refunded the administration fee or may apply it towards the 2021 competition if they so choose.

Thank you to the talented musicians who have been practicing and preparing for this wonderful event. The Rotary District 5190 RALLYE Conference during which the Area winners for both the Speech and Music Contests were to compete in April has also been canceled.
