Chase and WaltLast Week
Rotary at the Fair and Rotary's Nevada County Destruction Derby
A big THANK YOU to all of our Club for a very successful Fair week. It was a week of long hours, grueling efforts, and a few blips mixed with laughter and fellowship.  We came together as a Club with the support of friends, family and PV & GV Rotarians to cover 100 shifts!  2014 RYLA Alumnus Chase Frey is pictured working his shift with Walt.  See photos on our Facebook at 2014 Fair and Walt's & Sandy's View.

A special thank you to Walt Stickel for round-the-clock management of our Fair Booth!  Thank you to Ellen for overseeing all things money on top of working shifts!  Shift captains took on longer shifts.  A number of you worked well beyond 2 shifts!

Preliminary figures suggest we exceeded last year's gross sales and are close on expenses. In addition to the Treat Street booth, we are expecting a distribution of profits from the Destruction Derby as icing on top!

Thank you and congratulations Dennis for co-managing the fabulous first Rotary Destruction Derby with Allison of Nevada County South! The crowd loved it! See photos on our Facebook and at

Next Week - August 21
District Governor Joe Zarachoff and his wife Cheryl will be visiting our Club. DG Joe will be our speaker as we focus on Lighting Up Rotary. Plan to join us and extend a warm welcome to DG Joe and Cheryl.  DG Joe will meet with our Executive team at 9:30am, our full Board at 10:30am and our Club at our lunch meeting.  DG Joe and Cheryl are both inspiring Rotarians from South Lake Tahoe.

Adventures & Wine Auction - September 19
Adventures & Wine Auction is September 19. Always a special night, this year's Adventures & Wine Gala will open at 5:30pm with music by Dream and the Dreamer! We will have tickets at Thursday's lunch meeting.

Donations are starting to come in. Gary has 2013 donor lists for members to follow up with your contacts regarding potential donations for this year.  Visit our Club site for last year's donor list  posted by member.

Barbara Schmidt Millar Triathlon - Sunday September 21
Our Club is again sponsoring the Barbara Schmidt Millar Triathlon.  Women can signup to create or join a team for the Triathlon or participate in the 5k Walk/Run.  Men and women are invited to volunteer in a variety of capacities.  Mike and Carolyn are planning to volunteer in kayaks to help with the swim.  See Carolyn Inglis for more information.  To volunteer, please contact the organizers directly at Volunteering to determine best fit for you. Keep Robin posted so we can connect members who are interested in various roles.
