Nevada City Rotary and Partners Work Party on Miners Trail

Wednesday April 3 from 8am - noon

Nevada City Rotary in partnership with Nevada City Public Works, Caltrans Maintenance, Elevation 2477' and the Nevada City Wednesday Community Volunteer Work Team is having a work party Wednesday morning.

Caltrans (Laura with Maintenance) has offered to look into fence repair, culvert unplugging, and cleanup under the bridge. Daniel with Elevation 2477' is donating some base rock, and Public Works (Bubba) will pick up and deliver the rock. We'll need wheel barrels, shovels, and heavy rakes. It would be really nice if Caltrans could cleanup the debris behind the fence before we gravel the trail.

Cathy Wilcox-Barnes was contacted by Jim Morris and friends of the City to partner on this project.  Join the crew and bring a friend for a morning beautifying and repairing our favorite Miners Trail.  Our Club built this trail in 1998.  Freshen up your history at Miners Trail - Nevada City Rotary.

Club Leadership Assembly - Saturday April 6

Heads up to our Club:  Cathy has stepped up as Club President for a second term with the assurance that we as a Club and Board will rally round and actively share the Club leadership with her. Club Leadership Assembly is the first step for focusing on our year ahead and begin our planning and brainstorming together. CLA is intended to jump start by bringing Club Leadership together for a day of learning and planning.

Click to Register now!  There is no charge to you.  The Club will be billed and this year District has even lowered the cost to Clubs!  Join us Saturday April 6 at the Nugget in Sparks. The program runs from 9am - 3:30pm with Registration - Continental Breakfast from 8-9am.  It is an easy turnaround trip day.

An engaging day of brainstorming, visioning, learning, sharing ideas across the District is a great way to fast track our Club’s 2019-2020 Rotary Year!  CLA is for all Club board members, committee chairs, aspiring leaders and new Rotarians.  Our keynote speaker PDG D5230 Shirley Grace will focus on balance and team work.  Shirley is a dynamic speaker who is sure to delight and inspire on both a personal level and a broader Club perspective.

From Los Barriles

Looks like our crew is having a great time! Check Facebook for postings!  We can't wait to hear more when they return!

In your absence, 11 fellow members remained behind and had a fabulous gathering toasting you with magaritas provided by President Tom and feasting on taquitos and guacamole served by Nicole. We had a great night socializing together.

Drs Chris and Bill are doing blood pressure screenings.  But look who is charting eye test results Paul Boch (protecting his own eye) and Janet with Dave Bunje!

In Sympathy for Gil Gray

We are deeply saddened by the lost of Gilbert (Gil) Gray on March 8, 2019.  Gil was a long time member of our Club and a proud Rotarian.  Gil's daughter Kimberly has invited anyone who knew her father to join family and friends at a Celebration of Life to be held at the Goldminer's Inn in downtown Grass Valley at 1 PM, Saturday May 4th, 2019. Our condolences to Gil's family and loved ones.

Bulbs watch continues at Penzance Park

Over the last few years we have planted 1,500 or so bulbs at Penzance Park.  We will be dancing through daffodils, hyacinths, and crocuses soon!!!

Watch this space for flowers popping out all over Penzance Park!

Girls Who Code at Seven Hills

Girls Who Code program continues into the new year. The girls love our healthy snacks.  Please signup with Nancy Kemp to serve as host and/or bring healthy snacks a week or more for Girls Who Code participants. If you haven’t done it before, Nancy has great instructions on what to serve.  It is another incredible opportunity to become involved and participate with the youth in our community.
