Thought for the Week
“Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.” ~ Albert Einstein
“If the wind will not serve, take to the oars.” ~ Latin Proverb

Next Week - September 18
A special Wine Tasting just for our Club and guests!!! Join the tasting fun as we handle last minute plans for Friday's Adventures & Wine!

Adventures and Wine Gala AuctionAdventures & Wine Auction - September 19
Adventures & Wine Auction is September 19. Always a special night, this year's Adventures & Wine Gala will open at 5:30pm with music by Dream and the Dreamer! We will have tickets at Thursday's lunch meeting.

We are coming down the home stretch and need your active support! We are asking all members to sell 10 tickets and arrange for at least one donation. Talk with PP Carolyn Inglis or Judy Soldavini if you need assistance.

LAST CALL FOR DONATIONS!!! Donations received to date are posted at 2014 Donations Received. Please check report for the status of your donation. If the status is "unknown" please followup with your merchant to arrange for pick up. Contact Carolyn Inglis if you have a question or data issue. Note: the cutoff date for Donations is September 10.  We have lots of exciting donations and can use more!  Your favorite merchants are our best prospects and the auction is a great way for them to promote their business!

As with our Fair Booth, the Adventures & Wine Auction requires full support of our Club.  All members are to serve on an active action team. Day of activities are especially important. If you have not signed up for a role day of, please review the signup sheet and contact Carolyn to indicate your assignment preference.

Last Week
Stuie Weills has been a Nevada City Merchant for over 30 years and delighted us with stories of Nevada City and history of the Gray Goose!  Members and guests pitched in to add stories and rembrances of their own. The Gray Goose is the most fun stores on Broad Street! Thank you Stuie!

AmazonAmazon Smile Smile for Nevada City Rotary
Sign up through http://smile.amazon.com/ to earn money for our Club while you shop on Amazon.com.  You will need to specifically select "Rotary Club of Nevada City Foundation" under "Pick Your Own Charitable Organization". Shopping is done via Smile.Amazon.com rather than Amazon.com but the items and buying experience are exactly the same.

Friendship Club Mini Car Races and MiniGolf
Treasurer Ellen Davis is organizing two MiniGolf Teams for our Club to play in the Friendship Club tournament on Monday September 22 at 4pm.  See Ellen if you can join us on a team!  A fun event for a great cause!
