Multimedia Reporter Elias Funez - Covering our Community at The Union
When our Club has come together to stage an event in support of our community - such as our mask give-aways and our canned food drive - we have often been visited by Elias Nunez, a dedicated multimedia journalist from The Union. He has documented our events in photos that have been featured in The Union. This week we will hear more from Elias about his work documenting realtime what is happening across Western Nevada County.
The Union’s Multimedia Reporter Elias Funez has over 14 years of on-the-beat reporting experience. While studying fine art photography at Modesto Junior College, Elias was hired as the staff photographer for his hometown newspaper – the Patterson Irrigator – where he spent a total of nine years taking on different roles including; Chief Photographer, Photo Editor, Crime Reporter, Page Designer, and Managing Editor.
Elias also spent two years at The Modesto Bee and Merced Sun-Star as a Multimedia Photojournalist and was part of the team that won the California Newspaper Publisher Association’s (CNPA) General Excellence award there in 2013.
Elias has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including 1st place CNPA awards for Investigative Journalism (2014), and Best News Photo (2014).
Our program with Elias should be a fun and insightful look behind the scenes with some of the most active eyes and ears in our community!
Just a few highlights of what he has published about our Nevada City Rotary projects:
